I recently worked with a 12th grade English teacher and her students to produce digital stories using NPR StoryCorps as a model. The students identified a person in their life that was important to them. They wrote interview questions and obtained 45 minutes – 1 hour of raw audio on a $60 Olympus digital audio recorder (THANKS to Wes Freyer for this tip!). They downloaded the .wma files to a MacBook and then used Switch to convert the files to .mp3 The files were edited within GarageBand to create a finished product. From GarageBand we shared the files to iTunes where the GarageBand files were able to once again be shared in .mp3 format. Students shared their stories in the classroom and I will be working with the teacher to create a blog so she can publish the class project.
